Kissa’s Story Found the Spotlight

Some stories are meant to be worn. On June 14, Kissa’s story was shared with a wider audience when founder Ishita Matharu joined NBC Bay Area to talk about how the brand began and what continues to shape it today

The conversation moved from Ishita’s own childhood to becoming a mother herself, and the search for children’s clothing that felt considered in every way: natural fabrics, distinctive design, and pieces made to last beyond a single moment.

Where Care Became the Inspiration

Ishita shared how her mother’s thoughtful approach to clothing stayed with her. Years later, while shopping for her own daughter, she found herself looking for the same things: fabrics she could trust and designs that felt different from everything else on the rack.

That idea became Kissa. A brand built around the belief that every child is writing a story of their own, with clothes alongside them through it all: soft, comfortable, and made to give them the confidence to simply be themselves

NBC Bay Area at a Glance

From a mother looking for something better for her daughter to sharing that idea on television, the feature gave Kissa a chance to tell the story behind the clothes, not just show them.

What Stayed With Us

Kissa means story, and this was one of those moments when ours reached a little further. What began with one mother, one daughter, and a thoughtful way of choosing clothes was now being shared with families across the Bay Area. And there were still so many little stories left to weave.
